GLOW-IN-THE-DARK CORNETTO -
LEICESTER SQUARE, LONDON, JULY 2013

Bompas & Parr has long been obsessed with electroluminescence, luminescence and fluorescence - anything in fact that makes our food glow in the dark. In 2013, to celebrate the premiere of The World’s End, starring Simon Pegg, the studio collaborated with Wall's Ice Cream to add a glow to one of the staples of British ice cream culture: the Cornetto.

The studio collaborated with iconic ice cream maker Wall's Ice Cream to create the word's first glow in the dark Cornetto, adding a portion of UV-responsive vitamin mix to the recipe of Mint Cornettos, and then decking out a cinema in the Vue Cinema in Leicester Square with lights that activated the mixture and lit up the cones - and cinema-goers' mouths!

The studio has since gone on to collaborate with leading scientists to explore the culinary potential of deep-sea marine creatures and their use of bioluminescence as a hunting and survival tool, as well as experts in paint innovation for electric-generated luminescence.
