Heart of Darkness: Druid Sacrifice - Soho Farm House, October 2015

Ancient Druids partook in ritual sacrifice. Those who support modern Druidism tend to try to minimize or deny the practices among ancient Druids, while those who are against modern Druidism as a viable faith tend to over-emphasize it! The reality is that the Druids did sacrifice both animals and people, as did most cultures during that time and it was done for a variety of religious reasons.

For Dreaming Together at Soho Farmhouse, Bompas & Parr worked with Luke Lupton to present a savage participatory dining experience. Fresh oxen hearts were set within a neon halo and made to beat using simple electronic circuitry and a pond pump which forced air into the heart’s atriums. Guests chose their heart which was then sautéed on the open flame by the brigade of hooded chefs.
