In the ultimate tribute to those who have shuffled off this mortal coil, Bompas & Parr presented an opportunity to convene, communicate and celebrate with the other side through a magnificent feasting occasion.

In April 2015, at the five-star lifestyle Andaz Liverpool Street hotel, a dinner was held in its original Masonic Temple, a gloriously golden room where secretive rituals have taken place for decades amid an environment covered floor-to-ceiling by other-worldly symbols.

It was a fitting canvas for renowned medium and stage illusionist Philipp Oberlohr, who combined his ability in channeling long-lost mediums, heroes and the occasional poltergeist with sleight of hand and other magicians’ tricks to turbo-charge the occasion. He ensured that interactions across the dinner table – and beyond the grave – were enhanced with a spine-tinglingly spectacular theatricality.

Collaborating with the chefs behind Andaz Liverpool Street’s acclaimed 1901 restaurant, guests received a multi-course food and drink-paired menu packed full of culinary tricks of the mind to form a cleverly evocative backdrop for proceedings.
