THE SINGLE-OPTICON - Taipei, Taiwan, November 2015

For The Singleton single malt Scotch whisky, Bompas & Parr created a unique whisky tasting experience which for the first time directly leveraged the landscape of the Scottish Highlands to help drinkers in Taiwan understand the spirit better.

The experience was based around a 6-metre-long 3D map of Scotland, which came to life through a spectacular and atmospheric sound, smell and visual show.

Guests to The Single-Opticon: Diaroma of Flavour, created for The Singleton single malt Scotch whisky, were taken on a 40-minute guided journey where the geography and topography of Scotand help tell the story of whisky. Up to 20 guests at a time enjoyed tastings of two The Singleton variants which emerged, Excalibur-like, from secret locations in the interactive table.

Specially curated canapes and a rare nosing of unaged spirit straight from the still also help drinkers understand the nuances of whisky making and the art of maturation.

The diorama, which was live in Taipei, Taiwan at the end of 2015 before moving to the city of Taichung for an additional four weeks in the new year, was informed by the latest flavour science and used projection mapping and air-born aromas to animate the table and create a more immersive experience.

Creating this unique table helped transport guests from the Far East to the Scottish Highlands without leaving their seat in arguably the most memorable and immersive whisky tasting ever created.
