"This 'gourmet chalet', sleeping six, was recently opened by culinary wizards Bompas and Parr. The bombastic colour combinations – orange walls, pink door frames, and statement bright blue staircase – are surprisingly cool and relaxing." - Ben Alden-Falconer, inews

The Clay House: Margate’s Gourmet Chalet - a beachfront apartment gloriously positioned between Margate Main Sands and Dreamland. The Clay House is an idyllic retreat for pleasure-seekers, culinary deviants or merely those wanting to revel in a luxurious space. Outstanding features include a cantilevered bath overlooking Margate harbour and Main Sands, seventies-style custom furniture, and the studio’s curated kitchen paraphernalia from grape scissors to curious ice-cream moulds provided for your experimentation.

The holiday destination is conceived as a total sensory experience and embodies pleasure in numerous ways. Designed by Bompas & Parr and built by local artisans over a two-year period, the gourmet retreat is opening to the public for the first time.

The Clay House is above The Fabulous Showboat and less than five-minute walk from Turner Contemporary and Margate Train Station. The interiors are made of clay to a palette drawn from J. M. W. Turner’s (1775-1851) depictions of the sunsets above Margate. Joseph Mallord William Turner is described as 'the father of Modern art' by John Ruskin and was a regular visitor to the town from the 1820s onwards.

The apartment has two double bedrooms, one bunkroom and a dramatic double-height living space with cantilevered bath and wood burning stove. Designed to welcome and entertain up to six guests.
