Creative Strategy Director
Fixed Term Maternity Contract – 13 months starting September 30th 2024.
Objectives for the Role
We’re looking for a Creative Strategy Director (maternity cover) that’s passionate about the events and design industry to support our expanding business. The successful candidate will use their expertise to lead development, growth and reputation of the Bompas & Parr studio across new and diverse audiences.
You will lead and grow the consultancy offering of Bompas & Parr, developing experience, design and brand strategies for a wide range of client opportunities from governments to drinks brands. Alongside this, you will lead the editorial team to develop social media strategies and creative content to showcase the Bompas & Parr studio both online and offline. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in working with the Client Services Director on bringing in and developing new business pitches and working with our clients to develop engaging strategies and creative content.
The Role
The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for experiences, food and drink, and approach tasks with adaptability and flexibility. We want someone who can show ownership of achieving personal objectives through positive action. This role will require someone to have strong editorial judgement that is used to work across a range of media platforms. The Creative Strategy Director (maternity cover) will have high level interpersonal skills in order to present to senior clients, and critique internal ideas if they don’t fit the client brief, whilst also providing insights and motivation to teams across the studio to drive projects forward. Finally, the ideal candidate will have a commercial understanding of projects from both an internal and external basis, to ensure we don’t go over budget and clients can see that ideas will secure revenue.
Content, Creative Direction & Consultancy
- Lead the creative strategy across the studio, driving a strategic process and vision across all teams
- Generate new leads for new business projects with the Client Services Director, as well as generating proactive reports and ideas to take to prospective clients
- Ownership of the company’s content generation and strategy, ensuring pipelines are moving efficiently and deadlines are met
- Evaluate and, if necessary, alter the content of projects before completion and put this into actionable insights for clients
- Have an oversight of projects across the whole studio, ensuring all projects are meeting a high standard of creative strategy and ideation
- Working with the Creative Strategist to drive the creative narrative and research across all projects
- Work closely with Creative Director to generate world first ideas that meet the Bompas & Parr standards across all projects
- Deliver efficient solutions to creative problems by being adaptable, flexible and confident in project direction
- Ability to plan, create and deliver workshops, presentations and pitches to global client
- Work with the Creative Strategist to plan, write and deliver two bi-annual reports on future trends
Client management and relationships
- Develop genuine and long-lasting relationships with clients and be totally ‘in tune’ with their business needs and subsequent opportunities
- Work with the Project Directors to develop a thorough understanding of the client’s brand, project objectives and KPI’s, alongside new opportunities
- Work directly with the Senior Team to identify/research new markets and generate strategic work to feed into the new business strategy
- Mentor the Creative Strategist, working together to produce world class creative strategies
- Oversight on resource planning across the studio and foreseeing any challenges with the impact on creative strategy project work
Experience
Essential Experience
- At least 8 years’ experience in a strategic role within an agency, ideally a creative/experiential design agency
- Ability to unpack a client brief, understanding its commercial value to the business alongside creatively pushing it to its fullest potential
- Ability to guide teams through a creative process, and able to work quickly and efficiently to manage best ways forward
- Ability to explore new business avenues with clients and for studio through having knowledge on the industries we work across
- Must have a track record of creating engaging strategies and content for diverse brands and audiences
- Strong communication skills, in both verbal and visual, being able to articulate client briefs in the most effective way
Desirable Experience
- Strong keynote skills in order to generate presentations that reflect both B&P and client values
- Confidence and speed in idea generation that hits the objectives from a client brief
- Ability to always ask the why, and to develop justification to support creative ideas from studio team
- Write concept statements, brand positioning and copy for designs, help us to explain our work in the simplest and most compelling way possible
- Understanding of how trends evolve and work, with the ability to confidently predict future facing trends from both a consumer and cultural aspect
