A Seasonal Vegetable Orchestra for Burberry

Highgrove, 2025: A fashion-forward, edible orchestra crafted from seasonal British produce brought heritage, sustainability, and performance together in an unforgettable harmony.

Commissioned by Burberry to mark the launch of the Highgrove x Burberry capsule collection, Bompas & Parr designed and built a fully functioning orchestra using vegetables inspired by those grown at Highgrove Gardens — the private residence of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The collection celebrates Burberry’s Royal Warrant heritage and supports The King’s Foundation, reflecting His Majesty’s lifelong commitment to environmental conservation.

The orchestra featured an array of bespoke instruments — from resonant courgette clarinets to rich, brassy parsnip trumpets — all hand-carved, tuned, and tested by Bompas & Parr. The resulting symphony accompanied a playful campaign starring actors Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Laura Carmichael, and Elizabeth McGovern, styled in vibrant designs by British artist Helen Bullock.

The stars of the Highgrove campaign were invited to guess the vegetables behind the sounds in a series of portraits, videos, and behind-the-scenes moments. The performance was brought to life by long-time collaborator Dom James, who played the vegetable instruments with virtuoso flair.

The project fused craft, creativity, and heritage into an edible celebration of British charm — a campaign where fine tailoring and finely tuned produce performed in perfect harmony.
