Future of P-Leisure 2026

A vital new chapter of our Future of P-Leisure report series

London, 2025: Bompas & Parr presents a vital new chapter of their Future of P-Leisure series, diving into the uncertain future of nightlife.

P-Leisure reimagines pleasure in the public realm – from museums to placemaking – and now turns to nightlife for the latest findings around what we do together in public. As 65 clubs closed in 2024 alone, this timely and urgent discussion is framed to decipher the emerging new forms of togetherness and 'public leisure'.

Friends, experts and collaborators came together for an energising evening of insights and bold interventions asking what is next for nightlife. Drawing on cultural research and collaborative storytelling, this chapter of P-Leisure continues Bompas & Parr's mission to map how we gather, party and connect in the 21st century.

Presented at the Barbican Centre on 8th July 2025, the Future of P-Leisure 2026 live launch included an invitation to sample Blue Lotus Pills and an opportunity to dive into one of our predictions via a specially formulated Kebab lip balm.

Following a number of drivers that provide contours for mapping the future of nightlife, the Bompas & Parr studio identified six core predictions that will shape how we might experience nightlife in the future.

Architectures of Vice
Cities will embrace nightlife as vital parts of the urban fabric, regeneration, and placemaking initiatives, turning empty business districts and infrastructure into creative nocturnal playgrounds.

Aging Disgracefully
Older generations will reclaim nightlife with a widespread merging of the retirement home with the members club, designer drugs for the geriatric, and new forms of cross-generational connection.

Luxuriating the Night
Nights out will see a rise in places where people can luxuriate in cerebral explorations and sip and savour delightful delicacies well into the midnight hours.

Play on the Astral Plane

People will party, date, and connect in shared lucid dreams, making sleep the new social frontier.

I'm Here for the Queues and the Loos
The magic of nightlife will shift to just outside the main event, with queues, smoking areas, and bathrooms becoming sought-after sites for unexpected social sparks.

Rave New World
Grassroots and regional scenes will revive the dancefloor as a place for radical joy, self-expression, and social change.
