Liquid Light with Johnnie Walker
A celebration of lightweight craftsmanship
London, 2024: We brought to life a story of lightweight craftsmanship and groundbreaking innovation, as Johnnie Walker unveiled the brand’s lightest 70cl Scotch Whisky glass bottle.
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra is a prototype that showcases what luxury, lighter-weight, lower-carbon bottles of the future could look like.
To celebrate this innovation we created an activation that had lightness at its heart, including two unique cocktails:
Reflection: Johnnie Walker Blue Label, clarified apple juice, and spiced rose syrup topped with a exquisite lighter than air bergamot foam
Translucence: Seedlip Spice 94, honey sweetened lapsang souchong syrup, cloudy British apple, and soda, finished with a bamboo leaf to reference the bamboo cradle that holds the lightest 70cl Scotch Whisky glass bottle.
Further highlighting lightness, ultra lightweight small bites were served, evocative of the bottle design and the transparency of the patent and design process, utilising activated charcoal as a to nod to the carbon footprint impact. These bites had an incredible lightweight mouthfeel and utilised locally sourced produce that tells the story of sustainability.
Whilst discovering what expressions of the lightest whisky bottle in the world could taste like, guests could experience ‘Liquid Light’, an immersive installation created in collaboration between Johnnie Walker and the artist collective Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF). Delving into the innovation and craftsmanship of glassmaking, the installation features delicate glass forms suspended in mid-air, each representing the search for strength within fragility.
