Margate, 2021: The Clay House: Margate’s 'Gourmet Chalet', is a beachfront apartment gloriously positioned between Margate Main Sands and Dreamland. The property is an idyllic retreat for pleasure-seekers, culinary deviants or merely those wanting to revel in a luxurious space.

With interiors made of clay, to a palette drawn from J. M. W. Turner’s (1775-1851) depictions of the sunsets above Margate, signature features include a cantilevered bath overlooking Margate harbour and Main Sands, seventies-style custom furniture and curated kitchen paraphernalia – from grape scissors to curious ice cream moulds.

The holiday destination is conceived as a total sensory experience and embodies pleasure in numerous ways. Designed by Bompas & Parr and built by local artisans over a two-year period, the gourmet retreat is opening to the public for the first time.

The Clay House is on the seafront and less than a five-minute walk from Turner Contemporary and Margate Train Station.

The apartment has two double bedrooms, one bunk-room and a dramatic double-height living space with cantilevered bath and wood burning stove. Designed to welcome and entertain up to six guests.
